Happy Birthday Daddo!!
We love you very much and hope you have the best day! We’ll see you soon!!
Spencer started his birthday with his choice of breakfast – doughnuts! Can’t beat it!!
Then off to school with NO MASK! First day in two years! School went masks optional and these kids were happy to be free of them. Fingers crossed it all works!
Robert then took him Firehouse Subs up to school for lunch – too bad Spencer didn’t get it from the office in time to eat it for lunch! oh well. After his basketball practice we made brownies…
and then waited and waited for dinner time and presents! He picked Chick Fil A and we finally got to eat once Maxwell got home from football. I’d say the presents were worth the wait!! He’s been asking for an Xbox and I had told him “no way!” I said no mainly because they are impossible to find. I did manage to find a Series S at the Target in Tuscaloosa a few weeks ago and made the drive one day to pick it up. Then last week I went up to Best Buy to get an extra controller and some games for it. When I was checking out I started chatting with the girl ringing me up – she was a big gamer – and I was saying how hard it was to find the consoles and that the Series X was just impossible to find. She then said “do you want a Series X?!” Turns out a lady had returned one that morning and they had it in the back!! Woohoo! It was definitely my – and Spencer’s! – lucky day!
He had no idea what he was getting and he was a pretty happy kid when he realized what was in that package!
Make a wish!!
We love you Spencey!
Cheers to 9!
We celebrated Spencer’s birthday on Friday night with a whole crew of crazy boys!! Spencer loved it! He had some friends over for pizza and a movie…which was really pizza and football/kill the carrier/destroy the playroom. Can’t beat it!
After the boys got here we walked to Davenport’s for pizza and arcade games…
and some root beer too!
It was then back to our house for cookie cake – extra icing!
The boys then started a movie and made it a full 15 minutes before they were back outside running around again. It was a rambunctious and super fun crew! They were back and forth between the backyard and the playground all night.
Spencer loved every second and that’s all that matters to me! Happy birthday to our very favorite nine year old!
Spencer is NINE! My lovable, slightly mischievous, blonde hair blue eyed baby is NINE!

It doesn’t get much better than this kid. As I say every year, he’s a happy kid who plays hard, tries hard, and loves hard. He has grown up so much over the last year and is becoming such a cool kid. He seems to be a “typical” middle child – pretty easy going and doesn’t demand too much attention. Because of that, he deserves some extra special attention sometimes! He and Maxwell fight like brothers but I sure am glad they have each other – they are gamer partners, yard football teammates, and the brunt of each other’s pranks. It’s awesome. If Spencer and Samantha get off on their own they have the very best time together. You should see the music video they made on my phone last week! 🙂 Spencer is the best brother to them both and they are so, so lucky to have him as the happy glue in the middle.
Spencer is doing excellent in school. He’s in 3rd grade with Miss Campbell and everything comes easy to him. I don’t think I’ve ever helped him study for anything and he’s still acing all of his work. It’s still a struggle to get him to read – he’d much rather be on the iPad – but we’re working on it. He has good friends but is also friends with everyone. He’s a pretty likable guy! His core group from kindergarten are still his favorites but he’s picked up some new best buds from his class this year. He’s a friendly, loyal kid who makes friends easily.
Spencer is doing his best at practicing to be a professional gamer or YouTuber! He’d be on the Nintendo or iPad all day long if we let him. He has a tendency to zone out – or zone in! – on his device and we have to keep that in check. Thankfully, if you can get him outside with any kind of ball he’s a happy camper. He’s really enjoying golf, loves baseball and basketball. He’s playing football for the first time and doing so well! He’s playing cornerback on defense but he’s also the guy that they will throw into any position when someone gets hurt and he figures it out! Spencer rarely gets flustered and keeps his cool in unknown situations. He’s made some great plays in positions he’s never played before. One thing I love about Spence is his good attitude about the games. Sure he loves to win but, if they don’t, he’s kind of ok with that too! He doesn’t quite have the competitive nature of his brother (or his mom!) in a good way. He’s also the best encourager and teammate. You can always hear him yelling the loudest for his teammates from the dugout or the bench!

Happy NINTH birthday, Spencey!!
For my birthday Robert nicely made dinner reservations! Woohoo! We went out to Bricktop’s on Tuesday night because Wednesday was football and Thursday was cheerleading! I didn’t care when we went out and was just glad we got to go!
We had a great dinner as always and made lots of wishes!
I was even good enough to get a few presents including this just right coffee mug that Maxwell picked out all by himself! Sweet boy.
Robert got me a crockpot. Thankfully he also got me a very, very nice piece of jewelry to go with the crockpot!  🙂 Not sure I had been good enough for that but I’m not complaining!! My crew sure does love me and makes me feel special on my special day! Lucky me!
