Farm Adventure

November 15, 2012

Last week, Susan took Maxwell to Springville, AL for a day of fun.  There is a farm up there that has a great pumkin patch around Halloween, but they do neat stuff there year round I think.  All I know is Susan and Maxwell had a blast!

I still cannot believe Maxwell actually rode this horse!

Giddy up!

They took in a little entertainment…

Checked out some local goods for sale…

and had an overall great time!

Love their adventures!

also…bedhead!

also…dimple!

Fire engine threads

November 14, 2012

I love this little outfit that Spencer has with the firetruck on it.  Such a pretty baby blue with such a cute fire engine!   Perfect for my sweet little boy!

He wasn’t exactly giving me good facial expressions while snapping these pics – I think he was barely awake!  I can report though that this kid definitely has at least one dimple on the right side.  Both Robert and I have seen it!  Hopefully we’ll start getting some serious smiles soon so we can see if he’s got a double dose or not!

I also can’t wait to see what color Spencer’s eyes end up.  I know all babies start with blue eyes but I think Spencer’s are lighter than Maxwell’s ever were, even in the first few weeks.  Maybe that means Spencer’s will stay blue?  or maybe I’ll end up with two brown eyed baby boys!  We’ll see!

See you tomorrow!

Day off

November 13, 2012

Yesterday was a lazy, rainy day and we just took the day off from everything. Maxwell didn’t have school because of Veteran’s Day and it was literally raining from sun up to sun down so we didn’t even try to go anywhere. I think this was honestly the first day since Spencer came home that we had absolutely nothing on the schedule – and it was nice!

You know the best way to spend days like that? In your pj’s of course! Maxwell spent the entire day in his pj’s, watched a lot of PBS (Bob the Builder is our current fave!), built a fort, played with trucks, ate as many graham crackers as he wanted, and loved on his baby brother. He even took a good nap!! Hooray! A great day indeed!

A little Sid the Science Kid…

and a fort full of stuffed animals…

some trucks…

and a graham cracker!

Spencer did a whole lot of this – which was especially good because he didn’t do a whole lot of that the night before! 🙂

When he wasn’t asleep, he spent the day just looking cute…

Some days you just need a day off!

We love fall!

November 12, 2012

What a BEAUTIFUL fall weekend we had here!  It was sunny and just warm enough to play outside…but just chilly enough to make you believe it’s FALL! Robert worked on Saturday at the never ending job of picking up leaves and Maxwell had a blast playing in the leaf piles…

Just look at my handsome little guy looking so grown up!

What a smile!

In other news, we had some highs and lows on sleeping this weekend.  Friday night was ROUGH – I think Maxwell woke up 5 times that night?!  But Saturday night was GREAT.  He only woke up once and went back to sleep after only a few minutes!  Naps are still a struggle but we’ll get back to normal, I just know it.  Thank you SO much to all those that reached out with encouragement.  It honestly helps to know there are others that have gone through this.

Spencer slept GREAT Friday night going for a 5 hour and a 4 hour stretch.  Saturday night he was up every 3 hours on the dot!  Now I just need to get them both sleeping good on the same night!  🙂

Here’s to a fantastic week ahead!!

TGIF oh TGIF!

November 9, 2012

Ya’ll…thank GOODNESS it’s Friday.  Not that the weekend is that much different than the weekdays for me while I’m not working but I’ll have Robert home to help for two days and that’s awesome.  This week has been….challenging.  Spencer is definitely asserting himself more and isn’t quite that easy, sleepy newborn we had the first two weeks.  That said, when it comes to newborns, he’s still pretty good and we can’t complain.  Maxwell on the other hand?…oh Maxwell.  He has been another story.  I’m not sure what’s going on with him (jealousy? major attachment to me?) but he’s been a terrible sleeper this week.  Terrible.  Naps have consisted of him screaming and wailing in his bed for over an hour.  I don’t know what to do because I can’t sit in there and rock him because Spencer needs me.  He’s SO tired and needs the sleep but just starts crying as soon as I walk out the door.  Nighttime isn’t going that much better and he’s wailed for over an hour the past 3 nights before finally giving in to sleep.  He’s always been SUCH a good sleeper and gone to bed with no problems – I have no idea where this is all coming from.  I just hope it’s a phase and we can get through it because I am one tired Momma and my nerves are shot from all the screaming.

Still, regardless of how hard this week has been I do love, love, love these boys…

and, yes, Spencer is in a monkey outfit.  It was a cold morning and the fleece monkey costume was warm! 🙂

Here’s to a great and RESTFUL weekend ahead!

Would love to hear from you! 5 Comments
