Dinner with Mickey

June 13, 2013

After a full morning in the Magic Kingdom, we headed back to the hotel for lunch and “nap”.  Spencer finally fell asleep but Maxwell never did.  He rested though…and played on the ipad!…and then wandered the hotel with GJ while Spencer slept.  Back in the room we also realized that Spencer had totally gotten sunburned that morning.  I felt SO BAD. We were expecting a totally rainy day and I just didn’t prepare with sunscreen.  Poor, red chubby legs, arms and cheeks!

I won’t let it happen again Spencey!  I promise!

That night, we headed over to The Contemporary for dinner at Chef Mickey’s!  Normally Chef Mickey’s books up months in advance but GJ was checking for reservations daily the two weeks leading up to our trip.  On the day before we left, she was able to get us in for dinner at 6:20!  Too perfect!

We got to The Contemporary a little early so went into the gift shop and came out with these…

Did I already mention GJ’s a sucker?  yea, Momma’s a sucker too!  🙂

They had a caricature artist in the lobby so I though, why not?!

He did a great job and turned my boys into Woody and Buzz!  Can’t wait to hang this in Maxwell’s room.

We then headed into dinner and got to see all of our favorites!

Once again, Maxwell liked all of them from afar but wasn’t quite so sure about them all up close.  Spencer couldn’t get enough of them.  He didn’t get scared at all and tried to grab each of them!  🙂

The one character that Maxwell actually liked up close was Minnie!  I think it’s because she was really only about my height…or maybe he’s just got a thing for the ladies!  🙂

By the time we got back to our room that night, everyone was wiped out.

We got up early the next morning and headed to the airport to fly home and see this guy!

dad and mob

yay!  I have to brag on both boys for just a second.  All things considered, Maxwell was so well behaved and such a good, agreeable Disney visitor.  Spencer was just unbelievable.  I don’t know how I got such a happy, easy baby but I’m not questioning it!  I’ll definitely be taking these two little dudes back to see Mickey again!

For now, bye bye and….

see ya real soon!

WDW!!

June 12, 2013

So, did you figure out my obvious hint yesterday?!  Yep, on Thursday afternoon, GJ and I loaded up the boys and took them to Walt Disney World!  It’s about a 3 hour drive from Naples to Orlando.  Once again, I was hoping for naps in the car.  This happened for about 20 minutes…

maxwell and spencer

The rest of the trip was spent with me sitting between them in the backseat trying to keep Spencer from crying, changing episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on the ipad for Maxwell, and listening in on a conference call for work while trying to take notes.  No one can multi-task like a momma!!  🙂  But, we made it and I was so happy to be at the Grand Floridian!  I have so many memories of this place.  I’m not sure who was more excited about the trip – the boys or me and GJ!

elevator life

That night, we got ready for bed and I had some new fun pj’s for the boys!  Woody and Buzz!!  too cute!

woody and buzz

We all 4 stayed in one room together.  Even though we had a crib for Maxwell, I gave him the choice to sleep in it or to sleep in the double bed with me.  Not surprising, he chose to sleep with me.  While I can’t say I got much sleep AT ALL the two nights we were there, I did have one happy little boy!  He slept great – I slept about 3 non-consecutive total hours while being punched in the face, kicked in the ribs and pushed to the edge of the bed.  I wouldn’t have had it any other way, especially after he said “snuggle wif me momma” on Thursday night.  The next day, GJ asked him what his favorite part of the hotel was and he said “sleepin in da bed wif momma!”  melt. my. heart.  I can also report that Maxwell snores.  lovely.

Anyway!  We started Friday with a proper Disney breakfast…

mickey waffles

and then hit up the Magic Kingdom!

We were only doing Disney for a day so just stayed around Main St. and Fantasy Land.  There was plenty to keep Maxwell occupied!  First stop – meet the Mouse!  Maxwell was super excited to meet Mickey but then kinda froze up when we got in front of him.

Spencer on the other hand loved all the characters!

Next stop?  the Carousel!

After that we headed into the newly renovated Fantasy Land and stopped off at Dumbo.  They have a new feature where they have an indoor playground area inside that you can play in while waiting for your turn to ride.  It was cool…and air conditioned!

dumbo

We then hopped on the elephants…the orange one of course!  🙂

Next we went to meet Goofy and Donald.  Maxwell was SO excited to meet Goofy…until we actually met Goofy!  In his defense, Goofy is pretty big and overwhelming!

goofy

No love for the Goof.

Maxwell opted out of saying hi to Donald but Spencer was all about it!

donald

We then decided to just wave at Minnie instead of standing in line to actually meet her.

minnie

After the trauma fun of seeing Goofy and Donald, we needed a little cookie break!

cookie break

Maxwell loves riding trains so we rode the train that goes all around the perimeter of the park.  Good thing we did too because when we stopped in Frontier Land, guess who we got to see?

woody and jessie

Woody and Jessie!  Yippee Yi Yo!

While on Dumbo, Maxwell had noticed the new “kiddie” roller coaster, the Barnstormer, and wanted to ride it.  I was hoping he wouldn’t be tall enough but, he was so we got some fast passes and then went into the 3D “Mickey’s PhilharMagic” movie to wait until it was time to ride.  I was really unsure about how Maxwell would do on the roller coaster but there was only one way to find out!  Here we go…ready or not!

roller coaster

He LOVED it!  Smiled the whole time!  Loved it so much that we got off and rode it again!!  The second time I took video of it to send to Robert..

I think he’s gonna be a roller coaster lover like his momma!  🙂

After the roller coaster, it looked like the rain was moving in.  We got SO lucky and didn’t get rained on once even though the forecast had shown a wash-out just a day before.  Besides, Spencer was starting to get red and hot…

spencer

Sweet baby.  We decided it was best to head back to the hotel for lunch and rest.  It was a FULL and FUN morning at the Magic Kingdom.  This picture pretty much sums it all up…

ha!  tomorrow – our dinner with Mickey and friends!

The beach

June 11, 2013

Like I said yesterday, it rained every day we were in Naples.  We had to get out and at least see the beach though, even if it was pretty dreary.  On Tuesday we headed down to the beach for lunch and, big news, Spencer sat in a high chair for the first time!

spencer

Go Spencey!  Maxwell spent most of lunch doing this…

So, we decided we had to go let him play in the sand for at least a few minutes despite the drizzling rain.  He loved it!

A little dreary, drizzling rain didn’t stop us!

We had seen some dolphins in the water while we ate and then, on the way back, saw this on the berm about 10 feet from us!  whoa!

Luckily he was content to stay where he was!

and here’s a little hint as to what’s to come tomorrow!  🙂

See you then!

Florida!

June 10, 2013

I spent all last week down at GJ and Daddo’s house in Naples.  I just worked from there while GJ played nanny.  She gets an A+!  Even though it rained every single day and we only got to get into the pool once for about 3 minutes, the boys still had a great time.  Give them GJ, some trucks, and room to run and they’re happy as can be!

I flew down there with them last Sunday.  My first time on a plane by myself with both of them – we made it just fine!

flying

We flew into Tampa and my mom picked us up and we drove the 2 hours on to Naples.  Not a fun drive but better than having to layover and switch planes in Orlando.  I was hoping both boys would sleep the whole drive but…no.  Maxwell entertained us for quite a while until finally doing this about 15 minutes from the house…

figures.  Spencer took a little nap but then was up and playing most of the drive too.

Once we got to Naples, we had a great time just running around outside (when it wasn’t raining!)…
