pumpkins and mums

September 30, 2013

Happy Monday!  Hope you all had a great weekend.  Ours was good – just still trying to get rid of all the sickness.  This Hand, Foot and Mouth disease is for the birds!  Anyway…on to happier things.

One of the blogs I read had some pretty pictures of porches all done up for fall and she said “Mums and pumpkins on porches – these are the things that “do it” for you after thirty”  Ha!  So true…at least for me!  We hit up the nursery Saturday morning to pick our pumpkins…

Maxwell helped me pick out a Momma, Dad, Maxwell and Spencey pumpkin!  He then wanted to photograph them all on the porch!

As you can see in the picture, we also got two teeny tiny pumpkins – one for Maxwell’s room and one for Spencer’s room.  Maxwell couldn’t wait to show ya-ya his pumpkin when he got up from his nap!

I just love Fall and all that comes with it!  And I love these pumpkins with my little pumpkin!

Share and share alike

September 26, 2013

So, this one didn’t go to school yesterday…

mbb window

and probably won’t go to school Friday…

window

because he woke up yesterday with some mysterious spots on his leg and I think his baby brother has given him Hand, Foot & Mouth too.

Not surprising considering they’re always together…

brothers

and basically on top of each other!

And, don’t worry…

no babies were harmed in the taking of these pictures.

He caught himself before face-planting!  🙂

Here’s hoping for a mild case of the virus and healthy days ahead!

Soccer part deux

September 25, 2013

First, a big congrats to my cousin Amy and her husband Birc on their new baby, Walker, born on Monday!  Savannah is going to be the best big sis ever!!

Second, as I mentioned on Monday, soccer game 2 was MUCH better than soccer game 1.  Maxwell’s wasn’t totally 100% on board with playing the game, but he was about 75% and that’s great with me!  We got new jerseys – go Team Blue! – and everything was organized much better than last time.  Robert got the kids out there and even got them doing some drills…

soccer game 2

Love these balls in the air!

He even got them going with a little Red Light, Green Light action!

Maxwell kept holding his hands behind his back like this while practicing…so funny.  Guess he was serious about not using his hands!

soccer game 2

Spencey was just chillin’ and enjoyed the day like this…

soccer game 2

Once the game started, Maxwell wasn’t quite so sure he wanted to play.  But, with a little convincing I got him out there…

Then, with a little more convincing I got him out there again…

and then (with a small assist from his hands!)…

soccer game 2

he got that ball down the field…

and scored a GOAL!  Go Maxwell go!

soccer game 2

Overall it was a great day.  Good coaching, the shady side of the field and a win for Team Blue (not that anyone’s keeping score!)  🙂

And, PS, bags of grapes are no better than orange slices.  Kids will still go for the goldfish instead!

See you tomorrow!

11 months old!

September 24, 2013

Last week my sweet baby turned 11 months old.  Before Spencer was born, I remember thinking that I had no idea how I could ever love a baby as much as I loved Maxwell.  Well, it could not be easier with Spencer.  I love this squeezable baby every bit as much as I love his big brother.

Maxwell at 11 months…

mbb 11 months

Spencer’s such a snuggler.  If he’s tired enough, he’ll let me rock him before nap and lay his little head on my chest.  There is nothing better.  He also loves some good snuggles right after waking up.

He’s starting to eat more and more finger foods.  Fruits of all kinds are a hit and I’m trying to just give him little bits of whatever we’re having for dinner.  He had chicken for the first time last week and it went over just ok.  He’s got 2 bottom teeth and 2 top teeth with another 2 looking like they’re about to break through so he can handle some food!  He’s still nursing 3 times a day too.

spb 11 mths

He’s babbles all the time and I swear he said “mama” the other day!  He’s also got the very best belly laughs you’ve ever heard!

11 mths spb

He’s still napping 2 times a day – at 9:00 and around 2:00.  Unless he goes to school where he’ll be up all morning and then usually fall asleep from 12:00 to 12:30 right before I get him at 1:00.  Not good!  But, we’re adjusting.

spb 11 mths

He still loves Maxwell more than anything and is getting very good at getting into all of Maxwell’s toys.  We hear “no no ya-ya!” come out of Maxwell’s mouth a lot!

spb 11 mths

He’s not walking yet but can crawl faster than any baby I’ve seen!  He pulls up on every single thing and never sits still.  Case in point…

Spencer still hasn’t latched on to a specific lovey.  He really just loves his orange pacifier the best!

Every day with this happy, joyful, jolly little guy is better than the last.  How did I get so, so lucky to get this baby?  He’s just plain awesome.

We love you, Spencey!
