Highlands

December 10, 2013

Robert’s parents recently bought a house in Highlands, NC and we all had the chance to go up there last weekend.  What fun!  We didn’t leave until after work on Friday so the 4.5 hour drive in the blinding rain at night wasn’t so fun, but we made it.  We were happy to be there to see most of Robert’s family, check out the new house and explore the mountains.

One of the reasons we went last weekend was to see the little Christmas parade through town.  Maxwell and Spencer were real excited, can’t you tell?

parade highlands

ha!  Despite those faces, they were excited and it was a cute little small town parade complete with camels, trucks of all kinds, and even some grown men dressed as some pretty fancy tooth fairies!

and who was at the end of the parade?  The jolly man himself, of course!

That brought out some good smiles from our crew!

After the parade we grabbed some food in town and I got to eat lunch with these sweet girls…

After lunch, Lulu stayed home with Spencer so he could get a nap and the rest of us got some golf carts to explore the golf course inside the house’s gated subdivision.  It was cold but beautiful!

Our favorite part was this awesome waterfall!  not to mention that awesome house at the top!

Of course we all had to get out and take pictures in front of it!  🙂

Love this pic but too bad you can’t really see the waterfall!

This is better!

That night we all stayed warm and cozy inside the house and let the cousins play.  We headed out around lunch on Sunday and made the 4.5 hour trip back pretty easily despite the blinding rain yet again.  It was a super fun weekend and we can’t wait to do it again!  Thanks again Lulu and Granddaddy!

Dear Santa,

I’ve been a very good, smiley, happy little boy this year. I sleep great at night and always take good naps for Momma. I’m a good eater and love all kinds of fruit, unlike big brother. I’ve been working very hard at learning to walk too. Big brother says that since I’ve been good, you’ll bring me some toys. He thinks you should bring me a firetruck, but I think he just says that because he wants to steal it from me. I don’t really care what you bring me as long as it will be mine and Momma can tell big brother not to take it. I’ll leave you some cookies on Christmas. Hope you like elephant cookies because that’s what big brother wants to make you and, until I can talk, he gets to pick.

Your friend,
Spencer

It’s beginning to look

December 3, 2013

a lot like Christmas!  As soon as we got back from Montgomery, we started pulling out the Christmas decorations!  First up?  The new little tree in Maxwell’s room!

maxwell's tree

He’s loved it and he’s been sleeping with it all lit up every night!

Saturday morning we headed out to get our real tree…

We picked the best 6 footer out there!

We got home and got it in the house (even though Spencer would have been fine just getting to play with the stand all day!)

and then I got it all decorated during the AL/Auburn game with Maxwell’s “help”. Yea, I was glad to have a project to distract me a bit during the game.  That was QUITE a showdown.  Wish it had turned out differently but, you can’t win em all I guess.  Roll Tide!

I think it’s the best tree yet, don’t you?

I changed a few of our decorations up a bit this year like this mantle…

and a couple of other things mainly just to keep the decorations out of the way of grabby little hands!

Saturday night we even busted out the new Christmas pi’s!

I love having the decorations up and all the Christmas cheer in the house!
