Palm Sunday egg hunt

April 14, 2014

On Sunday we all made it up to church for Palm Sunday and stayed for the egg hunt!  It was a beautiful, warm day so they boys could definitely dress “springy” and I figured this is the last year I’d be able to put Maxwell in a jon-jon so I went for it. And I have to say that he looked ridiculously cute.  Spencer was in the jon-jon that Maxwell wore for Easter 2 years ago (with a broken leg!) as well as at Spencer’s baptism.  I have to say that he also looked ridiculously cute.

Attempted a backyard pic unsuccessfully…

and got Maxwell there in time to march in the palm parade…

After church was the egg hunt.  They tried to get all the kids to sit on the steps before the hunt so they could take a big picture…yea, good luck with that!

When the hunt started, the eggs for the “big kids” aged 3 to 3rd grade went really fast…as in every single egg was gone within 30 seconds before Maxwell could even get over there.  So, we went over to the “little kids” area and let Maxwell get the 6 orange eggs he wanted to get.  Yep, 6 orange eggs.  That’s all he wanted and when he got them, he was done!  Then he helped Spencer get 2 eggs.  He also helped Spencer eat his candy.  He’s such a good big brother.  🙂

Don’t worry though, Spencer was sure to snatch a piece of candy for himself!

A No Love Letter

April 11, 2014

Dear Pollen,

You’re such a lovely shade of green and I do love the color green.  However, you coat all of our outside toys and plants and really just make a mess of things.  You’ve been hanging around for about two weeks and I think it’s safe to say you’ve already worn out your welcome.  Spencer and his red, swollen, itchy eyes agree…

You can leave now.  Welcome spring!

Cheers,

Stephanie

ps – have a great Spring weekend!

Puppy Love

April 10, 2014

So, “Puppy” is to Spencer what NeNe is to Maxwell – his lovey, his main squeeze, his most prized possession.  We try very hard to not let Puppy leave Spencer’s room.  When he gets up in the morning we always make him put Puppy back in the bed and he does it with no complaints.  But, he’s also known to sneak into his room and reach through the rails of his crib to grab his beloved Puppy from time to time!  Sometimes you just need a little lovin’ from your lovey, you know?

Last week we were out in the yard and poor Spencey was having a rough time with itchy, allergy eyes and just a case of the all-overs (ever get those?).  He disappeared inside and, next thing I knew, he proudly walked outside with Puppy hanging from his mouth.  Stinker.  All I could think about was poor Puppy getting covered in grass and pollen so I snatched it out of his mouth to take back inside.  This is what Spencer did when I took his favorite buddy away…

Poor guy. What did I do? I gave in of course.

As I said, sometimes you just need a little lovin’ from your lovey and Puppy can always be washed.

ps – yes, we call him “Puppy”.  We didn’t get real original with the naming this go around! 🙂

Thomas the Train

April 9, 2014

This past weekend we drove out to the Heart of Dixie Railroad to ride Thomas the Train.  You might remember that we did this last year too and it was so cold, so rainy, and so miserable that Robert said we’d never do it again and I agreed.  Then my friend emailed that she was getting a little group together to go this year and I decided to give it one more chance.

Luckily it was a beautiful day and the boys had so much fun running around, riding on the train and seeing some buddies.

All aboard!

Fun with Jack and Bob!

How cute are all those boys lined up?!

I’m a sucker and got them both a balloon…those were fun on the car ride home.

It really was a gorgeous day and we were happy to be spending it outside.

Unfortunately, the ride home spoiled the day.  We left at 12:15 planning to meet our friends for lunch about 10 minutes down the road.  But, as soon as we got on the interstate, a very recent wreck immediately back everything up.  We were 1/2 mile from the next exit and it took us ONE HOUR to go that half mile.  With two tired, hungry babies in the backseat, it was not exactly a good time.  I shelled out all the goldfish, graham crackers and packets I had in my bag and, finally, 2 hours later we made it home.  Needless to say, Robert reiterated his statement from the previous year – never again are we going back to ride Thomas the Train!  Sorry Thomas!  Choo-choo!  All aboard no more!

See you tomorrow!
