Adventures

August 5, 2016

Lemme just tell you, my kids are living the life! They get to do so many fun things and have so many adventures simply because Mrs. Susan is so awesome! She has made this a summer to remember for sure! They’ve been to Tigers for Tomorrow, explored DeSoto Caverns, had jungle parties, and built a tent in the playroom…

They’ve seen classic movies at Alabama Theater, a wild animal movie at McWane, and even a 3D movie! They’ve been to the zoo….

and ridden a camel!

They’ve been to IHOP for pancakes and made owl cupcakes just for fun…

She even took them to Chuck E Cheese. Bless her.

Combine that with all the daily games of battle, memory, and countless playroom ninja and big cat battles! What an awesome summer it has been! We love Mrs. Susan!

Happy Friday!

Birthday wishes and parties

August 4, 2016

First, happy birthday to Lou Lou!!! All these grandkids sure are lucky to have you!

lou lou

We hope you have a wonderful day and love you very much!

Second, throwing it back a few weeks to a water slide birthday party for Maxwell’s friend, Brooks. Brooks has a little brother around Spencer’s age so Spencer got to tag along. The boys were pretty excited…

swim party

We got there and the slide was big and awesome! Both boys got in line and climbed on up, ready to go! Maxwell came sliding on down…

and then I kept waiting for Spence. and waiting. and waiting. Well, he was sitting up at the top of the slide (which was covered so I couldn’t see him) with cold feet, blocking the entire line. Poor bud. He backed out and climbed down the slide causing a big traffic jam and unhappy kids. He wanted to try again though so he waited in line and climbed back up and then I waited for him to slide down. and waited. and waited. Cold feet again. All the kids were backed up and he wouldn’t budge. There was an older sister up there helping to keep the kids moving and after much pleading with Spencer to please slide down, I told the girl to push him down! eeek!

water slide

He came down crying and was not happy. Not happy AT ALL. He proceeded to throw a meltdown, drag out, fit. Screaming, screaming, screaming and crying. Really fun to deal with in front of about 20 other parents in the 100+ degree heat! Ah, well. I finally got him calmed down and, wouldn’t you know it, that kid decided he wanted to try the slide again. Now, I really didn’t know whether I should let him do it or not but, I did and I’m so glad I did. He went up and slid down without hesitation!!!

water slide

He LOVED it and then proceeded to go down that slide about 20 more times. Go figure.

Fear conquered!

Brothers

August 3, 2016

Funny, I wrote this post about a year ago and it all still holds true. I wrote that Maxwell has “a little brother that idolizes him. Spencer is just a little copy cat of everything Maxwell says and does…literally.” Yep, still true. Spencer repeats what Maxwell says, puts on socks if Maxwell is wearing socks, and copies all of Maxwell’s superhero/ninja/big cat jumps to a T! Oh, they are funny together.

brothers

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked at Robert and said, “I’m so glad they have each other.” Now, it’s usually when they’re wrestling and jumping all over each other, but that’s when they’re having the most fun! I really don’t know what each of them would do at home all day if they didn’t have the other one to play with. Speaking of…Spencer is going to be so sad when Maxwell starts kindergarten next week. His best friend is going to be gone every day until 3:00. I’m so glad they’ve had such a great summer to just play together!

brothers

Please go back and look at these other posts about brothers here, here, and here. These boys are the best.

There really is no buddy like a brother.
