It really is the dog days of summer…hot hot hot! We’ve been spending it playing with friends….

having picnics…

re-organizing Legos…

sleeping in (how can she fit in that bed with all that stuff?!)….

having grown-up dinner with friends…

sporting new socks….

anxiously awaiting Dad’s arrival every night…

swimming with buddies…

and PLENTY of laying around in the AC!

Long live summer!

Have a great weekend!

We got to go to Chuck E. Cheese on Saturday for a birthday party! I was a little hesitant but, it was great! They no longer use tokens and you can play all the games by swiping a pre-loaded card. $$$$

Skeeball has been my favorite since the Showbiz days!

Spencer has since said he wants to have his next party there! Sounds like as good a place to celebrate 5 as any! We’ll see!
After our fun Memphis stop, we headed on to Arkansas to see some family! Our first stop was in Augusta to give Susu a big hug!

Here we’ve got 6, 2, 4, and 94! Pretty impressive!

We then had lunch at the Bulldog…

and then hung out at Susu’s a little more…

while the boys played golf. My dad played for the first time in years! woohoo!

That night we all got together at John and Cara’s house in Searcy where the cousins loved getting to play…

and everyone loved getting to hold baby Bennett!

The next day was July 4th and, before heading out, we were treated to a fantastic magic show by the one and only Uncle John! The crowd was excited…

and the illusions were great! Everyone loved getting to participate too! π

I even got cut in half! oh no!

Thankfully Uncle John was able to put me back together. Phew!

The crowd thought the whole show was awesome!

It was also awesome to see Granddaddy with almost all of his great grandkids! Just missing Nate, DeLaney, and baby Isaac. Granddaddy is 93 and holding strong!

The three Maxwells!

We then checked out John’s plane…

and said our goodbyes before loading up and making the drive all the way back to Birmingham.

It was a fun road trip with just enough adventure for all of us. A good way to spend the 4th of July weekend!

see you tomorrow!

Day two in Memphis!

We grabbed some breakfast and popped into The Peabody…

Unfortunately the ducks only walk at 11:00 and 5:00 so we missed them. But the kids didn’t care because they got to go swimming at Lyndsay’s new house! woohoo! We had a great day seeing her new neighborhood, swimming, letting Phillip man his awesome grill for us, and just hanging out. The kids especially loved getting to climb into Lyndsay’s giant truck! π

They were worn out from all the fun…

but quickly perked up when we took them back to the Bass Pro to the Fish Bowl! They honestly had the best time bowling. Samantha could carry that heavy ball, Spencer loved using the “ramp”, and Maxwell would sling that ball sideways down the lane!

We even got a visit from Johnny and Jeanette! That night, my parents stayed in the hotel with the kids while we went out to Houston’s (yummmmm!) and had a great dinner with Lynds and PI.

The next morning, we grabbed a quick breakfast and one last hug from Lyndsay…

and then loaded up all of our Bass Pro purchases (you didn’t think the kids would leave empty handed, did you?!)…

and headed out for part 2 of our road trip adventure!

More tomorrow!
