Ho Ho Ho!

December 21, 2017

We went to a fun little Christmas party on Tuesday night and the crew was looking cute…

Love them.

We also had an unexpected visit with the jolly man there! The kids were excited and took turns tellling him what they wanted. Samantha even sat on his lap!

After visiting with him, we all decided we didn’t need to go up to the The Club on Wednesday night to see Santa again. Score!

I think these 3 are definitely on the nice list. Now that our requests have “officially” been made, it’s time for Christmas to get here! Ho Ho Ho!!

Candy House

December 19, 2017

My favorite Christmas tradition – the candy house! You can check out previous candy houses here – 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012. Last Friday when we had the big snowfall, I was driving home from the gym early in the morning and stopped by the grocery store to get some essentials just in case we got snowed in. I got bread, milk, and lots and lots of candy! I figured if we were going to be stuck in the house, we needed something to do! It was the perfect activity for Saturday morning while the snow melted. We had plenty of candy…

and I had GREAT helpers this year! Each took their own side and ran with it. Maxwell and Spencer were pretty meticulous with their candy placement, Samantha was pretty good at placing candy in her mouth!

When all was said and done, I think we created a candy masterpiece!! Maxwell’s side…

No hard candy Christmas around here! 🙂

*just looking at the old candy house posts and realize I made that joke back in 2015 too. I need some new material!

Christmas Concerts

December 18, 2017

Both boys had their Christmas concerts last week and both did great! Maxwell performed his 3 days in a row. Like last year, I had to go on Tuesday for the student performance because I had to travel for work on Wednesday and Thursday. He looked handsome!

and he did a great job! Stood still and sang the songs just as he was supposed to. It’s actually nice to go on that day because I can easily get a front row seat! Robert went and saw the performance on Wednesday and Maxwell nailed it that day too!

Spencer’s concert was also on Tuesday and he also looked very handsome – and too grown up!

The wonderful Susan went up and saved a row bright and early so we had front row seats! Spencer nailed it too – stood still, sang his songs, and even gave me a little thumbs up at one point. 🙂 His favorite song was definitely Go Tell It On the Mountain!

Samantha didn’t have a concert but she looked cute that day too, just because!

Advent workshop

December 15, 2017

After the Christmas parade, I took the kids up to church to the Advent Workshop.

advent

They love it every year and get to make some cute crafts. This year was no exception!

Of course their favorite part was the cookie decorating! No surprise there.

Christmas Parade

December 14, 2017

One of the fun parts of being a boy scout is that you get to march in the local Christmas parade and hand out candy! Luckily, it was a beautiful, warm afternoon – perfect parade weather! Maxwell looked sharp in his uniform…

scouts

and the parade spectators looked festive in their red and green!

We got to the parade nice and early to get a good spot and then started watching and waiting!

Finally the parade started and there were some cool floats…

But our favorite was definitely the scouts!!

The big finale was the big man himself on a giant red fire truck!

Such a fun parade with the best marchers around!

(and yes, they’re eating an ice cream sandwich! The Mayfield ice cream truck threw them out!)

Merry merry in the hood!
