kindergarten!!!

August 11, 2016

Maxwell got his ‘back to school’ hair cut, he’s the proud owner of some awesome new shoes, his orange camo backpack is ready to go….he is kindergarten ready!!

Robert and I had a parent meeting on Tuesday night and Maxwell went up to the school yesterday to meet his teacher.

He was excited (and a little shy) when we got there. They had a little scavenger hunt for the kids to do and, amongst other things, he found his seat…

kindergarten

got his picture taken by the counselor…

and obviously met the teacher – with Lila by his side!  🙂

His teacher this year is Mrs. Solai…until October. Yea, his “real” teacher, Mrs. McCandless, had a baby last week so she’s out for now. Mrs. Solai is stepping in and, while not the ideal situation, I think it will all work out fine. Mrs. Solai (pronounced so-lay) seems smart and humorous, much like Maxwell! 🙂 It’s going to be a fun adventure this year!

I’ll report tomorrow on all the “first day” details!

Also, happy birthday Grandaddy!

We hope you have a great day and a wonderful year ahead! We love you!!

XNA to BHM

July 18, 2016

Happy Monday! We had my favorite visitors over here last week. Thankfully Birmingham is a great stopping point between Fayetteville, AR and the beaches of 30A which means that, every year, Hannah and her crew get to stop by and say “hi” on their way to vacation! They made it through last year, in 2014, in 2013, and in 2011 (wonder what happened in 2012? I guess Caroline was a tiny baby!). I sure loved having her here!

The visit was even better this year because Laura got to come too!! She, Jason and Reese stopped through and we all got to eat dinner together and hang out. Sadly, this is the only picture I got of the 3 of us together…

I blame the wine. 🙂 We’ll have to do better next year!

Hannah and her crew spent the night in our house (thanks to the finally fixed up guest room!) and we all had some bagels – and played a little Pie in the Face! – in the morning before they hit the road to the beach.

The visit was definitely not long enough but I’m so glad we got to see each other for even just a little bit. Nothing better than my forever friends!!

Take me back!

July 11, 2016

We got back Saturday night from a fantastic two week stay in Naples and I’m ready to go back again! Two weeks is a long time and we loved it! Robert was able to come down for about 4 days in the middle of the trip so it all worked out great. The flight down went off without a hitch – no problems at all…

Luckily Robert got to go to the gate with us and kept everyone entertained!

Maxwell was a big boy and sat in the row all by himself while I sat in between Spencer and Samantha in her car seat. Thanks to iPads and LOTS of snacks, we made it just fine!

Once we got to Naples we didn’t waste anytime getting into our favorite things like drawing with NEW sharpies…

naples

and swimming!!!

We actually spent quite a bit of time in the pool at home the first week because we had a swim teacher come over 4 days to give the kids some lessons. Monica the teacher was great and the kids did fantastic. Maxwell learned different strokes and how to breathe out of the side, Spencer worked hard on his “splashy kicks”, and Samantha just loved being in the water!

The only bad thing about the lessons was having to wait your turn to get into the pool. Tootie did not like waiting! 🙂

I have so many more Naples pics to come! See you tomorrow!

ps – is there anything better than a baby in goggles??

Mrs. Edwards sent this picture of Maxwell’s class on the last day of school…

We already miss that crew!

Also have to share this picture from the Aquarium two weekends ago. I just screen shot it as I didn’t want to pay $25 just to show you how excited Samantha was to be there. hahaha!!  🙂
