One of the big fundraisers at Maxwell’s elementary school is boosterthon. The kids get people to sponsor them a $1 or $2 for each lap they run. It’s quite a big deal and the kids earn prizes for how many sponsors they get…not sure I totally agree with all of it but, it is what it is. The school goes all out for the weeks leading up to it. One of the things they have is a door decorating contest. Parents are supposed to decorate the classroom door in the Boosterthon theme (which was something to do with movies this year) in advance of the run. Well, our class didn’t learn about this until 8:30 pm the night before it was supposed to be done. Since I’m assistant room mom and we live so close, I pulled some stuff together and got over there at 6:30am to decorate that door! Thank goodness for a good printer, a nice wrapping paper stash, and plenty of tape!
It wasn’t what I would have done with more time, but it turned out ok considering I put it together the night before!
The day of the Boosterthon was fun for the kids. It was a glow run which they loved.
Maxwell ran his little heart out!
After the run they all got to go outside and have popsicles.
Mrs. Solai’s class!
According to Maxwell’s bracelets, he ran 57 laps. But, they only charged us for 35. I think that was the max they said kids would run and, considering it was a really small lap, I’m sure they just average it out. A big thank you to all of Maxwell’s sponsors – GJ, Daddo, Susu, Lulu, Granddaddy, and Susan!
Guess we better get used to Boosterthon – we’ll be doing it for many more years!
Proud of Maxwell’s participation and I like this type of fund raiser – much better than having the kids sell something! Looking forward to many more years of boosterthons!
I knew I could count on Maxwell to finish the race ! Mom did a great job on the door !
Looks like a blast. Nice work Momma!
